Ditch your cell phone

Look around you. Right now. Do it. You will have probably noticed that almost everyone around you at this moment is either on a cell phone or just got off one. Cell phones have become a significant part of our lives; we text, we check messages, we surf the web. These little conveniences are, in fact, a hindrance to your ability to destroy stress. This is because they are usually associated with work and obligations. At your most stressed, turn off your gadget and enjoy the world without its demands.

Eat before you have coffee

Whenever you are like me, you have a cup of coffee before you have breakfast. I love my coffee; I can’t live without it. But the problem is that the caffeine in coffee will affect your body more if you have an empty stomach. When you drink coffee before having breakfast, your blood sugar levels increase drastically, making you more irritable and prone to mood swings. Try to have a healthy breakfast to fill your belly before reaching for the coffee urn.

Listen to your favorite music

Whenever I am feeling blue or stressed, I always pop on the same tune: “Friday I’m In Love” by The Cure. You should do the same. Whenever you find that you are overwhelmed or stressed out, pop on your favorite tunes. According to a new study by the Univeersity of Maryland, listening to your favorite music will relax your blood vessels, which will increase your blood flow, decreasing your stress in the process. And what’s more, this will also do wonders for your heart.

Plan a vacation

Your vacation doesn’t have to be next week or even next month, but planning a vacation and organizing yourself for it is a great way to eliminate stress. This is because you are giving yourself something to look forward to, even if everything looks terrible now. This works off the same principle as the old adage “there’s light at the end of the tunnel.” Plus, by taking a four to five-day vacation, your body will be immaculate of stress.

Add some honey

Honey has many antioxidants and antibacterial elements that will boost your immune system and keep you healthy. What’s more, is that by adding a little sweetness to your diet will cheer you up and give you a slight energy boost to help beat the stress.
